Boss’s Day

Published on 16 Sep 2013

Boss’s Day was officially inducted onto the calendar in 1962 and floated around in a sort of greeting card limbo until 1979 when Hallmark Cards started selling greeting cards for the holiday. Up until then it was a teeny, tiny little holiday celebrated in a small Mid-Western town in Illinois; it was originally the brain child of Patricia Haroski who was looking for an ingenious way to celebrate her father / employer.
Bosses Day in South Africa mightn’t be the most popular or well known holiday in the country but it has grown exponentially since its beginning all those years ago.
Bosses day takes place on the 16th of October don’t forget to celebrate the one who signs the cheques!
Boss’s Day is the day to let your employer know just how much they mean to you. It is the perfect way to say that you appreciate the day off they let you take last Tuesday to attend your sisters wedding, or if you need to say sorry for accidentally booking your boss into economy class on their last business trip.
There are many ways you can celebrate your boss you can buy them a bunch of flowers or give them a gift of cupcakes which they can share with the office (It’s a win/win for every one) if they are gluten intolerant, never fear we have a gorgeous chocolate hamper that will sweeten any day of the week.
Bosses day takes place in the 42nd week of the year, it is on the 16th of October and although it started in the US it has become an internationally recognised holiday.
There are many ways that Bosses Day can be celebrated, you can take your boss out to lunch of give them a beautiful hamper with some dried fruits, nuts and a bottle of wine.
